Some days, you want a nice French snack for your kids… without spending hours in the kitchen.
Something homemade. Not industrial, not full of preservatives and sugar.
This recipe is for you.
And just to be clear… I’m not judging if you give your kids industrial snacks.
We all do it. Life happens. No pressure here.
But when you do feel like making something yourself, this one is simple, comforting, and worth it.
Yes, it’s “express”… but the resting time matters. That’s what gives the dough that soft, sponge texture.
So be a little patient. I promise, you won’t regret it. Ingredients
4 glasses of flour
1/2 glass sugar
1 tbsp dry yeast
1 egg
1/2 glass neutral oil
Zest of 1 orange (or lemon if that’s what you have)
1 tsp vanilla
1 glass lukewarm water
Filling:
Chocolate squares
Chocolate spread (I personally use homemade Nutella… I’ll share my recipe soon, promise)
Finish:
1 egg (for brushing)
Optional: pearl sugar Steps
1. In a bowl, combine:
4 glasses of flour
1/2 glass sugar
1 tbsp dry yeast
2. Add :
1 egg
1/2 glass of oil
Zest of 1 orange (or lemon)
1 tsp vanilla
1 glass lukewarm water
Mix (by hand or with a mixer) until you get a smooth, soft dough.
3. Cover and let the dough rest for 40 minutes.
4. Once the dough has rested, gently deflate it.
Form small balls and fill each one with:
chocolate squares
or
chocolate spread (I personally use homemade Nutella… I’ll share my recipe soon, promise)
5. Place on a tray and let rest for 30 minutes.
6. Brush with:
1 beaten egg
Optional: add pearl sugar
Bake at 180°C for about 15 minutes until golden. Tada… It’s deliciously ready.
Wait a bit… don’t burn yourself trying to taste it 😉
